Seven Year Itch: Saturn’s Cycle
Jennifer Lopez and March Anthony have just announced they are separating, after seven years of marriage. As an astrologer, that ALWAYS makes me think of the seven-year itch and Saturn’s cycle.
While it takes Saturn 28 – 29 years to move through the entire Zodiac, his cycle is typically broken into four periods of seven years each. These seven-year intervals reflect the hard or dynamic aspects within that cycle.
At seven years into something, Saturn by transit makes a square aspect to the place Saturn was when the thing, in this case a marriage, began. This indicates a key time of readjustment and restructuring within the thing/partnership. Sometimes, this brings about the relationship’s end, as people realise the desires they married under are no longer priorities, and they no longer have the desire to create new goals together.

In the wedding chart, (one of the most useful tools for forecasting in relationship astrology), the ruling planet of the 7th House of relationships is retrograde.
Getting married under a Venus retrograde isn’t always bad, (though given she is the love goddess it’s one thing astrologers try to avoid when picking wedding dates), but having the relationship planet in your personal wedding chart in forward motion is quite important.
Saturn was placed at 12 degrees of Cancer in the wedding chart, and since November 2010, transit Saturn has made this square aspect to the wedding Saturn. This Saturn square Saturn, the seven-year itch cycle, finishes up later this month. Challenges to the structure, form and commitment of this marriage were/are likely through this time. Making choices that have long-term consequence in or on the marriage are likely, and it seems Lopez and Anthony have decided to go their separate ways.
Interestingly this decision comes to light shortly after a Full Moon, (always a time of bringing things that are hidden to light), which happened to align with the Moon in their wedding chart, which is at 26 Capricorn. (The recent Full Moon fell at 23 Capricorn.)

This doesn’t surprise me at all – she only married him because Ben dumped her. The embarrassing ‘duets’ the two of them have done together has only hurt her career and he’s been trying to ride on her coattails.
Great comments Mandy!
