Jodie Foster: “Love people and stay beside them”

January 16, 2013

JF Jodie Foster was honoured at the Golden Globes recently. While listening to her speech, I couldn’t help but think ‘So Scorpio!’ She was discussing how highly she values privacy, and then went on to describe the table of her crew, people she’d worked with for umpteen years or more.

Jodie said ‘Love people and stay beside them‘, which made me think not just Scorpio, but Venus in Scorpio. The ‘hold on and never let go’ quality of this sign manifests in an intense and deeply loyal approach to love.

Using a more traditional approach, Jodie’s Descendant ruling planet, Mercury, (she has Gemini there) which acts as her personal love planet, is also in Scorpio, doubling up the Scorpio themes about love, beauty and relationships for Jodie.

Sure enough, Jodie is a Scorpio, with Venus, Mercury and Neptune there. Using the whole sign house system, Jodie’s Scorpio planets also fall in the reclusive 12th House. This may explain how someone who’s devoted to telling stories (aka Sagittarius ascendant) can still maintain such a high level of privacy about her personal life.

Her Ascendant ruling planet, Jupiter, is powerfully placed in Pisces and in the angular fourth house (whole signs). She’s driven to share what she discovers, but again, it’s a 4th House placement for the ascendant ruler, rather than something more public. This is a lot like, tell the story but get out of there asap afterwards.

Jodie Foster Astrology Chart Whole Sign Houses

Mars aspects the ascendant degree exactly, from the adventurous 9th House, which adds energy and drive.

The Moon, symbolic of Mother, is high in the 10th, and in an exact opposition to Jupiter. In Jodie’s speech she paid homage to her mother, in a touching commentary that brought tears to the eyes of those in the auditorium. You can see some of the speech here Interestingly, there’s many lots of commentary about how much Jodie revealed in her speech, though listening to her it, it seems she alluded to more than she revealed.

Jodie is experiencing Neptune transiting her Jupiter and opposing her Moon. Her progressed Moon has recently entered Cancer, and is moving towards the Full phase, so there’s a kind of watershed quality about feelings for her (mid 2012 – late 2013).

Did you watch the Globes? What’s your favourite Jodie Foster film? Do you share Venus in Scorpio and can you comment on this placement?

I was touched by her boldness and beauty.
So recognized and empathized with her revealing how she wants to be not lonely but won’t be burdened with any surface fakery
    As a moon in Scorpio
    So hit home.
    So yes I got it.
    Thanks for your insights

My pleasure Dorrie! And yes, the Moon in Scorpio really does take things to a whole new level. To be frank, I often describe this to clients as “Having an inbuilt bulls*** detector!”
