Jupiter/Uranus: Bright Ideas and Breakthroughs

February 8, 2013

Star Circle MosaicWhen Jupiter and Uranus combine, anything is possible.

Jupiter brings an expansive, open energy which complements Uranus’ inventive tone. As a pair, they have, throughout history, been linked to creative and scientific breakthroughs.

Conjunctions and oppositions between Jupiter and Uranus are the most potent, and seem to trigger the release of brilliant new ideas into the collective. Take for instance the period between mid 1609 and early 1610, “when Kepler and Galileo independently made public within a few months of each other their separate discoveries that confirmed the Copernican theory of the solar system.” Through this time, Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Gemini.

This radically reshaped the 17th century world view, providing evidence for the Sun centred system scientists were sure of, but theologians denounced. The ideas and technology that were released then – Kepler published his first law of planetary motion, Galileo introduced the public the telescope – opened up space and collective thought to a brand new perspective.

In 2013, we have two different Jupiter/Uranus aspects:
- with Jupiter in Gemini and Uranus in Aries, there is a waxing or opening sextile, exact in July 2012 (direct) and February 2013 (station direct).
- with Jupiter in Cancer and Uranus in Aries, there is a waxing or opening square, exact in August 2013 (direct), February 2014 (retrograde) and March/April 2014 (direct).

The sextile is a supportive but mild aspect, so the period between the first hit and second, July 2012 – February 2013, is one in which small scale shifts and mental breakthroughs are possible. This is like the first phase in a larger shift, which helps you grasp what’s possible, and provides the right cosmic energy for breakthroughs for those that are highly motivated.

February 2013 is the culmination in a cycle that began in July 2012. Think back to what was emerging as interesting, exciting or new for you then. Have you been able to fulfill your wild ideas? What can you do to better express your individuality, or share your brilliance with others in new or more techno friendly ways?

With Jupiter in the thinking sign of Gemini, this sextile is very much about mental shifts, new ideas, breakthroughs in technology and communication.

Keywords for Jupiter/Uranus include freedom, innovation and experimenting. There are no guarantees about results, but like an explorer or inventor, you’ll never know what’s possible until you try.

This sextile is especially active for you if you have planets between 6 or 8 degrees of Gemini or Aries.

Jupiter/Uranus Square
The square is a more dynamic aspect. It comes with some frustration, which, while annoying, can create inner angst that helps you push out in ways you hadn’t previously. While the Uranus in Aries theme remains the same, the area of growth, as described by Jupiter, has shifted.

With Jupiter now in Cancer, the focus is less mental and more domestic. The combination of Jupiter and Uranus helps reshape collective thoughts and ideals about home and family, as well as safety and security issues. It’s a breaking down the barriers kind of energy, where inclusiveness to a wider variety of domestic lifestyles is possible. Technology starts to play a larger role in these areas, as Jupiter and Uranus combine to shift mindsets and release new perspectives.

The Jupiter/Uranus square is especially active for you if you have planets between 10 – 12 degrees of the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

If you are a Sagittarius or Pisces, aspects involving Jupiter always have extra relevance for you.

Are you aware of the Jupiter/Uranus cycle? Anything wild ideas you’d like to share? Do you have planets at any of the key degrees above?

Me again! For the trine, Uranus is conjunct my natal Jupiter at 6 Aries in the 8th house, while transiting Jupiter is in my 10th. I can’t say I know what that’s meant for me, I’ve had Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto popping like fireworks all over my chart in the last year or so (Pluto squares Pluto, Uranus conjuncts Jupiter, Uranus opposes Pluto, Jupiter trines Pluto).

Maybe I’ll make more sense of the square. My natal Saturn is 12 Cancer in the 11th house, so Jupiter will conjunct that while making the square to Uranus, which will be in my 9th by then. I also notice on Astrodeinst that Pluto will oppose that conjunction from my 5th.I’m a creative type that works in tech and sells to the public. I’m guessing it won’t be boring!

Uranus on your Jupiter in Aries is big, what houses are ruled by Pisces and Sag in your chart? Certainly with the UR/JU link in your 8th a shake up re investments, debt, taxes, shared finances etc is happening!

Ooh. Pisces rules the 8th and Sag the 5th. I have some debts to clear, which were incurred to pay taxes (haha!). I have a plan there and the pieces seem to be falling into place nicely.

Yes, I have Sun 12 deg Cancer (10th house) and Asc/Des at 12 deg Libra/Aries. I recently moved interstate – a much needed change. The move has highlighted how I am using my time and energy.

Fantastic! Uranus to the Sun and/or the angles does radically reorient life – doubly so for you given your cardinal chart connections.

    Hi,

Venus at 12 Libra- start of a stellium – buckle up? LOL! It’s in my 11th- balancing work and family is always a big focus. Maybe a chance to be less time/ place bound and work from home or another locale?

Twelve cardinal is big in our family- spouse has 12 Cancer Venus- (on his IC he is our chef) ; daughter has 12 Aries Venus.

The 10-12 of the Crab is in my 8th and cusps my 9th. Aries 10-12 lies in my 5th and cusps the 6th. This square is 5, 8 and 11- Pluto in 2nd. Interesting times ahead! I match professionals to clients- at a social service agency.

Personally I’m working on decluttering and processing possessions and grief from loss if mom and sister.

Pluto is in my 2nd now but natally in the 10th near the MC. Releasing but not running from the past, creating new, mindful, kind dynamics to replace old hypercritical programs, building trust and honor in myself. Letting go of judgment, co-dependence, and chaos. Not too big an agenda! LOL!

Meantime Neptune sits in my 4th now- and my Pisces girl redecorated her room to suit her new emerging self- so exciting. The treasures of childhood mingle with teen emblems. Her door is plastered with quotes to inspire! Jupiter is sextile her Venus in Aries- and Uranus is conjunct!

Her vision/ feeling tone inspired her to clean, release. Jupiter/Uranus give us that fired up insight to part with the past and see the possibility of the new and wonderful selves we can be.

    Love your insights! Thank you!!

My pleasure! Definitely some shifts ahead for you and your family. De-cluttering is always great, and a lovely tactile way to participate in change. Enjoy!
